How the honey legally reaches the UK
Honey is classified as a product of animal origin under UK import law. That means it cannot simply be posted from Hüseyin's apiary to a UK customer — every commercial shipment must travel through a registered importer, accompanied by the correct health certification, and enter the country via an approved Border Control Post.
We take this seriously because it's the only legitimate way to bring honey across that border, and because our customers deserve to know exactly how their food reached them.
Our import process
- Registered Importer: Thyme & Comb's UK-based import arrangement, confirmed ahead of each season's shipment.
- Border Control Post: an approved UK Border Control Post authorised to handle products of animal origin.
- Health Certification: each shipment carries an official health certificate issued by the relevant veterinary authority in Turkey.
- IPAFFS Notification: import notified in advance via the UK's official import notification system prior to arrival.
